Volunteer Groups
Ushers
Our Ushers serve as a “first representative” of Jesus Christ for our worship service. They are a friendly face that welcomes people and hands out bulletins. They stand ready to assist anyone in the congregation who might need help or aid in finding a seat, answer questions or give directions to those seeking a class or ministry of this church. During the service our Ushers receive the offering from the congregation, count those in attendance and secure the offering into the drop box.
Greeters
Greeters are an essential part of our church. They have an opportunity to help every person who comes through our church door to see, hear and feel the love of Jesus Christ. Greeters arrive 30 minutes prior to the church service. From the parking lot to inside the doors, they greet those arriving with a smile and friendly first impression. They stand ready to assist anyone in the congregation who might need help or aid in finding a seat, answer questions or give directions to those seeking a class or ministry of this church.
Media Techs
Media Techs serve on Sunday mornings and also on special service occasions in the audio/visual support of our church sanctuary to provide sound, lights, and video.
Communion Servers
Holy Communion is served at First Methodist Church once a month and on a few special services throughout the year. Communion Servers prepare the altar with the appropriate cloth and prepare the elements of juice and bread for the Altar. Communion Servers will serve the congregation Holy Communion, and two servers will serve those who are unable to come down to the front to take communion. Serving one another acts out our faith that Christ is the giver of this holy meal, and that we are the receivers of Christ’s grace. At First Methodist Church, the Sacrament of Holy Communion is open to all who love Christ our Lord, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Church membership is not required to participate in this means of grace. Communion may be served by kneeling at the rails or by intinction.
Clothes Closet
Clothes Closet volunteers serve on selected days of the week to provide free clothes for needy children in our public school system.
Samaritans By Grace
Samaritans by Grace is an outreach ministry that hands out a sack lunch to the homeless on Sunday mornings. These volunteers meet at 10am in the Fellowship Kitchen to prepare sack lunches that are handed out in Noel Plaza each Sunday at 10:15 a.m. This ministry serves others and shares the light of Christ by showing love and care for our homeless brothers and sisters.
